About this watch
This Black Self Luminous Special Forces Divers watch consists of a combination of current European military specifications and the US specification referred to below it is water-resistant to 200m or 20atm. The Special Forces Divers Watch is very easy to read in all conditions and approximately 100 times bighter than a watch using conventional luminous paint. The hour positions, the bezel and the hour and minute hands each have a brightly glowing vial of Tritium gas in adition two orange light sources are at the 12.00 position. In accordance with US regulations and US specification MIL-W-46374F- even when taken together they contain less than the personal limit of 25 millicuries. (U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations 10 CFR 30.15.).
The MWC Self Luminous series watches are incredibly bright at night, far too bright in fact for a soldier in the field to wear one without covering the face. This is because any image intensifier up to a mile away will spot it in seconds! It is so bright that some serving military have told us thay can read a map if its held close! The MWC Special forces divers watch has a special matt black finish as required by many special forces units. The steel is not black all the way through because the black finish is created by a special chemical PVD plating process which is vastly superior to the pained finish used on some watches which can quickly fade or rub off. This PVD process means that the colour of the steel is altered at a molecular level, therefore it will not deteriorate even during heavy usage although it can be destroyed if the case is badly damaged by a piece of metal being gouged out or if the case is worn down by really heavy abrasion against rocks or something similar.
It must be kept in mind that even standard military grade stainless steel watches are very tough but this watch in its covert black finish is very desireable if you are in need of a discreet military specification watch with non reflective finish.
The MWC Military Divers watch is solid, strong and extremely durable, with an easily readable face under all conditions.
Please note that this watch features a special anti-shock safety feature in the movement to prevent damage to the movement if it is suddenly moved or subject to shock. This gives the appearance of the second hand momentarily stopping but it is only the brake cutting in to prevent damage. This does not affect the accuracy of the watch or timekeeping just preserves the movement under extreme usage conditions.
